The Supervisor, Land is responsible for providing leadership and support in the acquisition, administration and management of land rights for projects and providing direction and support to the Land team.

What You Get to Do:
- Lead a team of both in-house and contract resources to complete Land Acquisition, Notification, Crossings to support capital and operations teams.
- Supervise, coordinate and assign responsibilities to Land Agents and Land Administrators including all aspects such as land acquisition, research, damage claim settlements, public consultation regulatory requirements, subdivision applications, 3rd party crossings and surface leases. Provide technical mentorship to team members and peers. Attend project meetings and open houses to ensure land rights are addressed.
- Approve land compensation on various projects.
- Assist in handling the negotiation of rental reviews for surface leases once requested by lessors.
- Support and participate in the recruitment and workforce planning through interview selection and recommendations for new hires.
- Conduct annual performance reviews, provide mentorship and continuous support to the development of employees.
- Negotiate and support difficult land purchases, rights-of-way, damage claims or leases.
- Ensure Land Acquisition related work is performed in compliance with accepted Company Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance objectives.
- Maintain effective relationships with various government agencies, Indigenous groups, companies, associations, property owners, and other organizations and individuals concerned with or affected by the companies’ land acquisition policies and activities.
- Provide land acquisition expertise in developing project scope and timing.
- Monitor real estate values and farming operation costs for use in the negotiation for land costs and damage settlements.
- Liaise with Engineering, Construction and Operations groups regarding project status, issues, initiatives and direction.
- Represent the company at various industry related committees and organizations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge, ability, and skills in surface land acquisition work, along with the ability to work and address problems effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of agricultural operations, together with good knowledge and understanding of industry construction and reclamation procedures is an asset.
- Must have related knowledge and experience as it pertains to high-pressure transmission pipeline systems.
- Knowledge and experience in distribution pipeline systems is an asset.
- Demonstrate high level of abilities in the areas of:
- Proficient oral and written communications skills.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills vital to lead a work group.
- Project management and organizational skills with an ability to coordinate and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Good judgement, self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal direction.
- Technical proficiency and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to learn new applications as the need arises.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta’s Driver’s License.
- Must have a valid Permanent Alberta Land Agent License and be a Commissioner for Oaths in the Province of Alberta.
