City Mission is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual with leadership and retail experience to manage the Smithton Resale Shop. This role requires the successful applicant to lead a team of paid and volunteer workers in the receipt of donations and general operations of the Resale Shop. This is a hands-on role with the Supervisor required to not only merchandise but have the physical ability to handle stock, including furniture. Additionally, the position requires the Supervisor to develop working relationships with management, peers, workers, council employees, the general public, stakeholders and other functional areas within the organisation.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proven extensive experience in Retail.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision and management of staff.
  • Ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Ability to implement legislation pertaining to retail/recycling Operations and Work Health and Safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in a strong odour (occasionally) environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively dealing with customers and stakeholders.
  • Sound IT literacy, including the use of POS, EFTPOS terminals and MS Office suite. 
  • Experience with POS and MS Office. 
  • A National Police Check is required for all roles at LCM.
  • A medical assessment is required for all Resale Shop roles at LCM.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience in a charity shop.
  • Experience handling donations. 
  • Experience or demonstrated capacity to work in an organisation adopting a Christian ethos.
  • First aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Electrical Test and Tag qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in Recycling Operations.

The Supervisor Resale Shop is required to supervise the staff and operations in the delivery of Resale Shop goods and services. Primarily the Resale Shop Supervisor will be responsible for: Supervision, leadership and support of workers, site safety, customer service, site maintenance and security, administration & reporting, receipt of donations, overseeing merchandising, and maintenance of equipment.

NOTE: This role requires daily manual handling tasks.

This position and salary will be based on the General Retail Award. As a Public Benevolent Institution, LCM employees are eligible to salary package through our approved provider.
