About us 

Headquartered in Melbourne CBD, Hanwha Defense Australia was established in 2019 with an initial focus on Land Systems. The company has been selected as the contractor to supply Land 8116, and now Land 400 Phase 3, the latter of which is the Australian Army’s largest ever acquisition program to date.

Your new role: 

You will primarily analyse and monitor the financial data of Supply chains and support the processes that evaluate potential financial risk before entering into contracts with suppliers.  

Facilitate the flow of Supply Chain expenditure information for each Defence contract, between relevant internal stakeholders and financial management systems. A key output will be the production and ongoing management of analytical tools, materials and other artefacts that enable effective modelling, options analysis and decision making.  

You  will support the Australian Industry Capability (AIC) function, through the consolidation and reconciliation of data, analysis and forecasting of trends and reporting on the implications of key decisions and activities as they relate to achieving AIC outcomes. The role is critical for monitoring compliance with ACE requirements among HDA’s Supply Chain and for ensuring HDA meets its contractual obligations with the Australian Defence Force (ADF). 

Primary Duties 

  • The duties and responsibilities of the Supply Chain Financial Analyst include, but are not limited to: 
  • Consolidation and reconciliation of HDA and Supply Chain Financial data for respective Projects and contracts, in collaboration with the Project Finance and AIC teams 
  • Routine forecasting, monitoring and reporting on financial and operational metrics and presenting findings to peers and leaders within the Project Finance and respective Project Teams 
  • Supporting the production of Contract Deliverables, including the AIC Progress Report and Subcontractor Report within the Contract Status Report (CSR) and the ACE Measurement Report, through the generation of data and analytical reports 
  • Building and maintaining financial models and analysing Supply Chain Financial data to enable scenario analysis, options evaluation and decision making  
  • Liaising with other HDA and broader Hanwha Group functional teams to source, analyse and share information and reports related to industrial development outcomes and strategies. This may include supporting future tenders and emerging projects with Supply Chain analytical support 
  • Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by the Program Finance Manager from time to time. 

About you 

As an ideal candidate you will have: 

  • Professional experience as a Financial Analyst or in an auditing role  
  • An understanding of Australian and/or international defence Supply Chains and/or Australian industrial policy is highly desirable 
  • Experience in analysing financial statements (balance sheets, cash flow, P&L) 
  • Experience in data reconciliation and consolidation, designing and building analytical and impactful decision-making tools (such as financial or economic models) and reports 
  • Confidence to build rapport among internal and external stakeholders in Australia, Korea and other nations 
  • Excellent computer skills, which include high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel – Advanced MS Excel functions (e.g. building complex cost models, usage of Pivot Tables, Lookups, Macros, etc.), Microsoft PowerPoint and Power BI 
  • The ability to undertake critical analysis and produce strategic insights to inform problem solving and opportunity identification. 

Qualifications & Certifications 

  • Bachelor Degree required in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar  
  • Chartered Account or Chartered Practising Accountant qualified with Big 4 Audit experience Preferred
