Position:Support Worker (Casual)

Location: Lochinvar, Telarah, Karuah, Paterson, Dungog, Stroud, and surrounding areas

Availability: We have multiple opportunities available. Must also be AVAILABLE FRIDAYS & WEEKENDS. Do not apply if you are not available for weekends, public holidays, sleepover shifts or unwilling to travel.

**It's important to note that we require staff who are prepared to do sleepovers at both Lochinvar & Telarah and travel to Karuah on weekends** person/s that will be successful must be available on weekends & sleepovers with no limitations.

Shifts:

Lochinvar & Telarah Shifts are:

0600-1400

1400-2200 [active] & 2200-0600 [sleepover]

Karuah Shifts are:

0900-11/1200 saturday & sunday with up to 1hr travel time paid.

Dungog Shifts are:

Up to 5 shifts per week, often paired with Karuah weekend and mon/fri shifts.

Paterson Shifts are;

Wed and Thursday 0900-1300, then paired with Dungog for 2hrs.

As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to work closely with individuals, providing individualized care and support. You will be responsible for a wide range of general duties to ensure the well-being and progress of our clients. Your role will involve:

  • Administering medication and adhering to all individual support plans.
  • Completing concise and factual case notes, shift reports, and incident reports.
  • Providing personal care, including toileting (bottle & bed pan), showering (& bed bath), and feeding (meal management).
  • Assisting with manual handling tasks such as bed positioning, hoist operation, commode assistance, and manual/power wheelchair support.
  • Performing household management tasks, including cleaning, washing, ironing, meal preparation, and cooking fresh wholesome meals.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies to support clients' emotional and mental well-being.
  • Assisting with health appointments and social outings to promote community inclusion.
  • Contributing to meal preparation, cooking, and ensuring nutritional needs are met.
  • Participating in cleaning activities to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Assisting with light gardening tasks to create a pleasant living space.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in providing support to individuals with functional mobility issues/manual handling, personal care, behavior management, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), mental health conditions, and dementia.
  • A strong understanding of person-centered active support or a genuine willingness to embrace this model of care.
  • demonstrated skills in providing assistance to adult clients with intellectual/physical disabilities, high medical needs, and mental health diagnoses.
  • Demonstrated common sense and a proactive attitude towards learning and development.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, respect, and uphold professional boundaries.

Qualifications:

  • Desirable Certificate III in disability or equivalent

Vaccinations:

  • Evidence of three doses of Covid vaccination. [essential]
  • Flu vaccination [desirable]

Licence:

  • Valid Driver's License

If you do not hold the Micro-Credential PDC20085 [outlined above], you will be required to provide the following certificates to meet minimum requirements [or equivalent, but must be under 12months recency completion]:
