About the opportunityWe are seeking a Support Worker on a Casual/Part time/Full time basis who speaks either Arabic or Turkish to join a skilled and dedicated team who are committed to providing high quality services and go above and beyond for our participants to coordinate and implement the support they need.
As a Support Worker, you will demonstrate effective communication skills, with well-developed listening skills, you will be an organized person who likes to work within a team environment. Showing concern for others and a genuine interest in helping people to achieve their potential, you are an honest person striving to make a difference in the community.
Our ideal candidate has:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in disability or a related discipline
- Arabic and/or Turkish language speaking skills mandatory.
- 1 year experience within disability services or related services (i.e. Disability Employment Services);
- Demonstrated service knowledge of Disability and Mental Health.
- Demonstrated methods that promote engaging people with a disability into their community and a commitment to principles involved in community inclusion;
- Ability to use all relevant technology including tools and work autonomously.
- NDIS Screening Check and Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one.
- Current Drivers License
Roles include:
- To deliver a high-quality participant centered Capacity building to Health and Community Services participant and NDIS participants
- Promoting Independence and significantly improve the lives of participants and people with disability and/or mental illness accessing the service
- To actively support clinical and professional development of peers and contribute to the Capacity Building program to further enhance best practice and meet the needs of our participant
- Ensuring Work Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to
- Engaging with participant, their supports and 3rd party organizations in a professional manner
- Complying with all relevant legislation and codes of conduct
- We require someone with good communication skills, positive, reliable, empathetic and proactive individual who can work semi-autonomously with people with disability and/or mental illness
- provide support in and out of home with daily living tasks such as shopping, transport preparing meals and other household tasks
- escorting participants to their appointments
- supervise and arrange activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development
- provide companionship and support during daily activities
- apply practical intervention procedures for behavioral problems
- observe and report any changes in the participant's mental and/or physical condition or any complaints and to the supervisor
- assist with rehabilitation exercises and basic treatment and at times medications
- flexibility and ability to work in a team and other agencies
- able to document to document progress notes at the end of each shift
This role involves shift work with night shifts and sleep-overs
