The Role
As a Superintendent you will play an important role in providing proactive leadership to a group of committed maintenance personnel. Acting as a key support to the Maintenance Manager you will be directly responsible for ensuring planned and breakdown maintenance outcomes are realised in a safe and efficient manner whilst maintaining task completion & standards within your team that align with the BSL expectations.
Direct accountabilities of this role include:
- Leading a diverse team of maintenance personnel in achieving safety, environmental, and cost objectives
- The provision of effective leadership in ensuring crew objectives / work schedules are maintained in line with production expectations
- Taking a proactive approach to safety and where necessary participating in accident / incident investigations, hazard studies and safety issues
- Recognising training requirements of crew members and providing training opportunities
- Conducting Performance Reviews identifying development and improvement opportunities for crew members
What you will bring

- Sound knowledge of plant and equipment and the ability to manage the balance between production and maintenance requirements
- Leadership experience and the ability to successfully lead a diverse team
- Trade qualified (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Good knowledge of SAP and Microsoft suite

Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL)
Opened in 1982, Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20 kilometres south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
