We are One Peninsula Health.What You Will Be DoingPeninsula Health has two procedural sites: a 10 operating room complex at the main Frankston Hospital site, and a 5 operating room complex at Frankston Public Surgical Centre. The Peninsula Health Department of Surgery has units for general surgery (including all subspecialty areas), orthopaedic surgery, plastic & reconstructive surgery, vascular/endovascular surgery, paediatric surgery, thoracic surgery, Ear Nose & Throat (ENT)/FacioMaxilliary surgery and urology. Also utilising the operating rooms complex are obstetrics & gynaecology, and endoscopy. Surgical services are provided for both elective and emergency care, and provide support to a busy Emergency Department.The Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SRC) works within the Department of Surgery to collect and submit reliable data to the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), a web-based database into which hospitals place de-identified outcome data. This is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation and entry into the ACS NSQIP database of all eligible surgeries for the hospital. The SCR works closely with the members of the Department of Surgery to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified.The SCR role requires:
- Sound clinical knowledge and an understanding of patient care
- The ability to learn and utilize new software and web applications for data entry and report generation
- The ability to track down information through various sources such as medical records, surgery clinics, social security death index and direct patient contact.
- Initiative and problem-solving/analytical skills.
- The ability to prioritise workload and manage matters that are urgent or of a complex nature
- A track-record of establishing effective working relationships with members of the hospital community.

Selection Criteria Essential: A Bachelors Degree in a health-related area, or equivalent
Essential: Computer and Internet experience with familiarity and comfort with MS Office products (Word and Excel are required; PowerPoint and Access are preferred).
Desirable: Database data entry and/or management experience preferred.
