Responsibilities
The Sustainability & Governance Lead is a newly created permanent role that will work closely with the company’s decarbonisation working group – a cross-functional team accountable for the decarbonisation of Yara’s Pilbara plants. Reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager, taking a lead role in planning and developing Carbon Capture Storage strategies and investments that form a key part to the Yara Pilbara Nature Positive Roadmap. You will be accountable for ensuring social and governance disclosures and reporting, coordinating timely inputs and reviews whilst collaborating with the relevant stakeholders.
You will engage with and build strong, cross-sector and cross-cluster relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including subject matter experts in climate science, sustainability, commercial and legal, regulatory and government departments, and senior leaders within the local, regional and global Yara framework.
Summary of Duties:
• Support the Environment and Sustainability Manager with ongoing management and evolution of the Nature Positive Roadmap to support efficient delivery of portfolio emission reductions and associated governance reporting; Reports include, but not limited to:
• Sustainability sections of the Annual Report;
• Sustainability Report & Climate Change report;
• Climate Transition Plan;
• Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment;
• Internal deliverables included including Board, JV and Committee papers;
• At a strategic level, work with stakeholders to develop a systematic framework for the management of decarbonisation including defining overarching strategies, plans & detailed roadmaps with key milestones, journey enablers, timeframes, drivers and identifying on-route threats, risks, and uncertainties;
• Maintain and manage the register of all sustainability commitments made by Yara;
• Review social, external affairs and government compliance requirements and audits and manage any corrective action plans;
• Undertaking assessments of applications, for eligibility and compliance, and liaising with other internal or external professionals to complete assessments or make referrals and recommendations;
• Ensuring governance with all regulatory and environmental commitments including the safeguard mechanism
• Engage with sub-contractors, regulatory agencies, and industry partners, to address environmental concerns and build positive relationships;
• Raising awareness of the business environment, market and on-going innovation in technology and research in climate-related subjects and issues.

Profile
• Experience in project management with extensive people interfacing;
• Experience leading cross functional multi-disciplinary teams;
• Tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in related discipline such as engineering, legal, environmental, or climate science;
• Experience in the resources, energy, manufacture or heavy industry, an ASX listed company or a complex global organization;
• Advanced written, interpersonal and communications skills;
• Experience in relevant fields such as sustainability, climate change, carbon, human rights, would be beneficial
• Experience compiling sustainability reports & experience in change management would be a plus.
• Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency. Temporary work visa holders are not eligible for this role.
About the Unit
The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica.
