New to swim teaching and not sure where to start?
No worries! You don’t need to be an elite swimmer, either. What matters is that you have a willingness to obtain AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or Swim Australia Teacher accreditation and have the passion for teaching students the life-saving skill of learning to swim.
YMCA of South Australia is seeking Swimming Teachers, to join The Valleys Lifestyle Centre. As a YMCA SA Swimming Teacher, you will:
- Construct and implement lesson plans that promote group teaching methods, combine stroke development with water safety, and enhance the developmental assets aspect of YMCA programs
- Enhance student interaction and collaboration to ensure students meet program outcomes and continually progress through the levels
- Display interest, enthusiasm, patience, respect and innovation to students and peers
- Challenges and develops students’ values and attitudes
- Be responsible for the safety and supervision of students in the class
- Liaise with the Aquatic Director and/or Teacher in Charge around student feedback, assessments, and progression
- Adapt lesson format to meet the needs of all participants at any given time
- Understand the unique needs of families and can respond appropriately, using respectful language and exhibiting behaviour that instils trust in students and parents.
- Work within a team to ensure safe, timely and effective setup / lesson delivery & pack up
- Have weekend availability

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Successful candidates will also have, or be willing to obtain:
- AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or Swim Australia Teacher accreditation or the willingness to obtain
- HLTAID009/001 Provide CPR
- Certificate of completion for “Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care” Training
