Systems Engineer

Job Summary

The Systems Engineer for ASI Mining's software (command-and-control for autonomous haulage solutions) serves as a technical specialist; provides expertise to support the development of new Mobius (proprietary software) product ideas, concepts and product improvements; ensures the designs are consistent with Mining organization objectives; and acts as the interface between Product Managers and Engineering for requirements gathering and clarification.

Job Responsibilities:

• Solve complex problems by bringing together cross-functional teams, utilizing the skills, knowledge, and expertise of the teams to engineer the required solution.
• Formulate the ideal interface through deep understanding of multiple subsystems and communicate these ideas effectively and understandably to engineer the solution.
• Create detailed system specifications for Mobius (proprietary software) features and functions.
• Collaborate with Product Architects, Engineering and Product Manager teams to define plans for standardizing, scaling and enhancing ASI's products and services.
• Assess test results for applicability, validity, and conformance to product requirements.
• Support teams in product requirements definition and risk assessments.
• Make recommendations to peers and direct manager based on sound engineering principles, practices and judgment pertaining to specific engineering problems as a contribution to the overall engineering and manufacturing objectives
• Incorporate engineering safety standards, methodologies, and global product development processes into all aspects of a project.
• Travel, as necessary, to customer facilities, test facilities, and customer field sites to resolve problems, explore design alternatives and provide information for development teams.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences, or related field required.
• 5+ years of recent experience working in a software & hardware product development environment including automation and system implementation experience.
• Systems or software development experience in designing, building and deploying highly-scalable solutions.
• Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting system-level performance challenges ie: software, hardware, wiring, configuration, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal direction
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to present technical information clearly in oral presentations
• Proficiency in writing technical reports and verbally communicating with other technical staff
