About the role
Blue Mountains, NSW / Full-Time / Onsite-Hybrid
DroneShield is seeking a Systems Test Engineer with relevant experience to join the team. The position will report to Data Engineering Team Lead. The role is primarily focused on the maintenance and support of DroneShield engineering efforts. Primarily located at the DroneShield field testing facility in the Blue Mountains, NSW, you will coordinate with various engineering teams to test and validate hardware and software solutions. You will be responsible for all associated processes and support systems to improve the cadence of testing at DroneShield.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Manage and Maintain the DroneShield field testing facility in the Blue Mountains, NSW.
- Coordinate with various Engineering teams to schedule, provision and execute field testing activities. Including building out of automated test flight system.
- Manage the DroneShield drone inventory, including tagging, maintaining, and preparing drone airframes at testing facility and Sydney CBD office
- Support Business Development & Field Service Engineering teams with demonstrations and testing events
- Regular trips outside of the Blue Mountains to complete data capture exercises
- Manage the DroneShield drone intelligence database, regularly completing market scans for new drones and new drone-related information
- Manage the DroneShield ‘drone addition’ process by which new drones are added to the databases of the various engineering teams.
- High work ethic and the desire to take ownership over tasks/problems that may fall outside of your immediate job description / team
- All CASA and other reporting duties related, but not limited to; flight planning, flying permits, drone and pilot registration
- Site surveying of new tests sites that meet Engineering requirements
- Willingness to undergo any additional qualifications and retraining as required
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- BS degree in Engineering (various), similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
- Experienced with Linux Operating systems. Comfortable working with the Terminal, Text Manipulation Tools, Process Monitoring and Networking
- Process development and process management experience is ideal
- The following commercial Drone Pilot Qualifications;
- RePL - Remote pilot licence
- AORC - Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate
- ReOC - Remotely piloted aircraft operator's certificate
- Candidate located in the Blue Mountains region is ideal. Candidate should be willing to be onsite 3 days, in the Sydney CBD office 1 day and traveling within the Sydney Metro region for data capture 1 day.
