About the position
The role of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Officer focusses on delivering a population and preventative health approach to reduce Nicotine and Tobacco use among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
As part of the Aboriginal Health team, you’ll play a vital role in contributing to the promotion, and support of a range of programs, activities and workshops, encouraging tobacco and nicotine cessation among priority communities.
We have multiple positions available, available either full-time or part time to 30 June 2025 with potential for extension. Hours and days are negotiable.
This role can be based within our hubs located across the South-Eastern NSW region including Wollongong, Nowra, Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Moruya, Ulladulla, Batemans Bay and Bega.

This is an Aboriginal Identified Position - authorised under the S14d of the NSW Anti Discrimination Act 1977.
We are looking for someone with:
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be an active member within the local community
- Minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Health Work, or qualifications in Health Promotion, Community Work or similar, or willingness to undertake training in this area
- Comprehensive understanding of the local community and social determinants of health
- Demonstrated ability to work with and understand the needs of Aboriginal communities
