Position Information

Coffs Harbour Public School is located on Gumbaynggirr land on the Mid North Coast of NSW providing quality education for 500 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our student population includes 48 % from a language background other than English and 14% of students who are Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander. The school caters for students from a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities with five classes in the support unit. The school's vision is for all students, staff and leaders to have the opportunity to learn, succeed and thrive in an environment that is inclusive, supportive and stimulating where high expectations, differentiation and student voice inspire best practice. We are responsive to the needs of each individual child and all stakeholders work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for all students. The school has a strong focus on providing targeted professional learning opportunities for all staff and implementing the most effective evidence-based teaching strategies in literacy and numeracy to ensure optimal progress occurs for all students. School-wide practices ensures the staff collaboratively identify, collect, and analyse student achievement data in order to reflect on teaching effectiveness and inform future school directions.

Selection Criteria * Approval to teach Infants and Primary (K-6) with demonstrated ability to support the diverse learning needs of students of all capabilities, including those requiring support, those with high potential and students with language backgrounds other than English.

Exemplary classroom management and wellbeing practices with the ability to create and maintain safe, inclusive, and challenging learning environments utilising positive behaviour management strategies.

Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills, committed to building positive, collaborative partnerships with staff, students, families and the broader community.

Commitment to and understanding of Aboriginal Education policies with a demonstrated capacity to develop and implement culturally appropriate learning experiences.

Demonstrated ability and willingness to implement Music programs and Information Communication Technology into classroom-based activities.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
