Job description

Position Information

Liverpool Public School is situated in the Liverpool central business district and serves an area rich in cultural and linguistic diversity. Our student population is highly mobile and there is currently 670 students. Students come from diverse cultural and language backgrounds, with 93% of students from language backgrounds other than English. Approximately 20% of school enrolments are refugee students, many of whom have a background of trauma and limited prior educational experiences. Liverpool Public School's vision is a learning journey that empowers students to be the best they can be.

Our Learning and Support team works in partnership with students, teachers and the community. The school provides a wide range of academic and extra-curricular programs aimed at developing the 'whole child'. These programs include Community Languages, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), community and multicultural events, creative arts opportunities, debating and various sporting activities. The school is well-resourced in a variety of technologies to facilitate student learning.

A dedicated mixed staff, of early career and experienced teachers, work collaboratively with a proactive parent community to enhance each student's well-being and academic outcomes in a cohesive school culture.

Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (primary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (primary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.

2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with students, families, staff, community and external agencies to create effective partnerships

3. Capacity to provide and/or lead the development of individualised learning plans to respond to social, emotional, behavioural and academic learning needs of students

4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers to monitor and evaluate teaching programs and personalised adjustments for students with additional learning and support needs

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
