The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Teacher of Physical Education. As the PE Teacher for both Primary and Secondary years, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality Physical Education programs to our students.
This is a full-time maximum term (Term 3) appointment to provide leave cover within our school, Peninsula Grammar. This position also includes the responsibilities of our Junior Sport Coordinator, overseeing the coordination and planning for the school’s Junior Sport program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons for students across different age groups, ensuring that the curriculum meets the needs of Primary and Secondary students.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that promote physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organise and supervise extracurricular sports activities, including inter-school competitions, sports clubs, and coaching sessions.
- Assess student performance in PE classes through observation, formal assessments, and feedback mechanisms to monitor progress and provide support where necessary.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate PE into cross-curricular activities and promote healthy living within the school community.
- Coordinating the Junior Sport program, which involves scheduling, preparation, planning, communicating with teams / parents / carers / venues to ensure the smooth operation of the sports program for students within our junior and middle years.
- Designing age-appropriate Physical Education activities that cater to the diverse needs of students at different developmental stages.
- Providing guidance on proper techniques for various sports and physical activities while emphasising safety measures.
- Organising school sports events such as athletics carnivals, inter-house competitions, and team fixtures with other schools.
- Maintaining accurate records of student participation in PE classes, their achievements in sports events, and any related health or safety concerns.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience teaching PE to Primary and Secondary school students.
- Ability to develop and implement engaging and inclusive PE lessons and activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for promoting health, fitness, and well-being through Physical Education.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all student.
- Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations related to Physical Education activities.
The successful candidate should possess a recognised teaching qualification along with a passion for promoting an active lifestyle among young learners. - First-Aid qualifications (HLTAID009 CPR Course, HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid & Anaphylaxis/Asthma training)
