About the role
The successful applicant will ideally possess innovative, enthusiastic teaching practices, and a strong commitment to professional development and continuous improvement to facilitate a best practice approach towards teaching and learning.
We are seeking applicants who understand the assess-plan-teach model and are comfortable with the Explicit Instruction approach with programmes such as Spelling Mastery. An understanding of the Science of Reading (SOR) and associated classroom practice is favourable, as is knowledge of the Talk 4 Writing and/or Seven Steps for Successful Writing programmes. Competency in the use of digital technology is required.

Our school
Broomehill PS is in the Great Southern district of Western Australia twenty kilometres south of Katanning and approximately 150 kilometres north of Albany. The school services predominantly farming families that live in the town of Broomehill, surrounding farmlets and those residing on nearby grain and livestock farms. The school has an enrolment of 50 students aged between 4 and 12 organised into three multi-age groups consisting of an Early Childhood Centre catering for Kindergarten to Year 2, a Year 3-4 class and a Year 5-6 class.
Our school staff comprises of a dynamic mix of experienced and early-career teachers and support staff. They are professional, committed, caring, innovative and always actively seeking to improve their practice. Effective and ongoing school accountability and improvement is promoted through a distributive leadership model in which a close collaborative and reflective team approach supports planning to collect and analyse relevant data and set appropriate learning goals for our students to achieve whole school targets articulated in the Broomehill PS Strategic Plan.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
