Appointment Pool

Ballajura Community College (CC) is seeking to establish a pool of Teachers - Secondary Generalist for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

As a Secondary Generalist Teacher, the suitable applicants will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and be relationship focused, able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning. You should be innovative, knowledgeable and understand instructional curriculum whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within your Learning Area. You should also be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment.

You will ideally support the implementation of the college’s Business Plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole College approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. You should have experience in a wide range of teaching models and differentiating the curriculum. Adopting inclusive practices, building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. Applicants will ideally have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 to Year 12 in a highly engaging manner in one or more of the Learning Areas of Math, English, Science and Humanities (MESH), Technologies, Health and Physical Education and the Arts. You will ideally have strong classroom management and skills to engage students successfully. Primary teachers are encouraged to apply.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
