Position Information
Birrong Boys High School currently has an enrolment of around 400 boys including 96% from a language other than English and a Support Unit consisting of 21 students. Students in our Support Unit have a diagnosis of Autism and other learning needs.
Our highly experienced and motivated staff develop and deliver a broad curriculum aimed at meeting the needs of our diverse student population. Our dynamic processes relating to student wellbeing ensures we develop active citizens ready to meet challenges and make positive contributions to society.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism and other needs including intellectual disabilities and behaviour difficulties.
- Demonstrated capacity to collaboratively plan, implement, and evaluate individualised student learning plans that reflect the learning, social and wellbeing needs and aspirations of students.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, differentiate and deliver learning programs, that support a diverse range of student needs using evidence-based practice in areas such as literacy, numeracy and Positive Behaviour for Learning.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and key stakeholders to create positive learning outcomes for students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
