AddressTuncurry Public School is held in high regard across the local community and is a proud member of the Great Lakes Learning Community. The school is uniquely designed and well equipped, with a heritage dating back to 1881. It comprises 13 mainstream classes and 4 Multi Categorical (MC) classes (356 enrolments). Tuncurry Public School has 19% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The school's current FOEI is 124.
We have a dedicated staff who are committed to their own professional learning to ensure they are providing the best possible education and opportunities for their students. The school is also supported by School Learning Support Officers who assist teachers in the delivery of learning programs in literacy and numeracy for improvement in student outcomes and the implementation of individual learning plans and behaviour support plans in the classrooms and playground. The school chaplaincy program helps to bring the school and community together by supporting it's physical, social and emotional health. To further support the education of students, we provide a range of additional curriculum activities including targeted learning support and high potential and gifted programs.
Parent involvement in the school is highly valued and welcomed. A strong parental presence assists with running the school canteen, sporting carnivals, uniform shop as well as volunteering in classrooms.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with autism, emotional disturbance, intellectual disability, behaviour difficulties, physical disability, and complex communication requirements in a multi-stage K-6 setting.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and proactively engage with students, colleagues, parents/carers, school learning support officers, external agencies and the wider school community.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively design and implement quality, differentiated programs that respond to social, emotional, behavioural, academic and communication requirements of students.
- Evidence of implementing strong classroom management strategies and wellbeing programs with a proven ability to develop a positive learning environment that promotes student success.
- Knowledge, understanding and demonstrated implementation of the department's Aboriginal education policies and the impacts on learning and wellbeing of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
