Position Information

Ermington West Public School is in the Carlingford Network. Our school is inclusive and culturally diverse with an enrolment of approximately 150 students across 6 classes, approximately 13% of students are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The Parramatta Vision Support team is based at Ermington West Public School. This team of itinerant vision teachers travel between educational settings to provide quality support to students with vision impairment, their schools, and families. The successful applicant will have the ability and willingness to travel between school worksites. The successful applicant must have a current driver’s licence.

Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach students with vision impairment, including those whose main medium is Braille, across a range of educational settings from preschool to Year 12.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology accessed by students with vision impairment, with capacity to teach and support students in its use to enhance educational inclusion.
  • Ability to provide professional support and collaborate with school staff in delivering appropriate educational adjustments addressing the individual needs of students with vision impairment.
  • Capacity to design and implement quality personalised programs meeting the expanded core curriculum needs of students with vision impairment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with capacity to build authentic relationships and work proactively within a multi-disciplinary team to support the learning and wellbeing needs of students with vision impairment.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
