Devonfield Enterprises Inc is seeking a Team Leader to join our admin team on a full time, ongoing contract to assist in setting a new standard on how community care is delivered.

Devonfield has been providing support and services that respond to the individual needs of people with a disability in the North West and Northern Tasmania since 1959.  Devonfield has a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for its participant group and provides opportunities for community integration for people with disabilities to maximise their independence.  Devonfield is a funded provider under the NDIS.

About Your Next Rewarding Opportunity

Team Leaders in our Disability Support Services provide direct supervision to the staff who work with people with disabilities across our accommodation, community based and in-home support services and have a hands-on role in their allocated area.  They set and monitor outcomes for their area of responsibility and oversee the quality of support being provided to ensure it meets the required standard.

The Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring the clients accessing Devonfield’s services are offered a wide range of activities associated with program activity or service delivery and that clients are provided with choice to participate in accordance with their individual Support and Service Plan.

This position is expected to communicate between all stakeholders of the program area to ensure information is being shared, and program outcomes can be set accordingly.

The key areas of responsibility for this position are:

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the disability hub.
  • Supervise and support staff members, including recruitment, undertake supervisions and performance reviews of support staff.
  • Ensure implementation of Devonfield policies and procedures to ensure the smooth functioning of the hub.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Complete service agreements and end of plan progress reports.
  • Ensure medication framework compliance. 
  • Assess the needs of individuals with disabilities and ensure their support needs are met by completing individual support plans and personal emergency plans and reviewing in line with policies.
  • Facilitate connections between individuals with disabilities and appropriate stakeholders including coordinator of supports and allied health professionals.
  • Monitor and investigate incident reports in conjunction with quality and risk department. 
  • Represent the hub at meetings and lead hub team meetings.
  • Undertake any required disciplinary meetings in conjunction with direct manager and human resources.
  • Ensure all participants attend and are scheduled for required health appointments.
  • Work alongside the training officer to determine and ensure maintaining skills and upskilling of staff. 
  • Work alongside participant care coordinator and participant progress coordinator to ensure appropriate supports are being provided within behaviour support plans and participant NDIS goals. 
  • Complete shift coverage when rosters are unable to be filled to ensure continuity of supports.
  • Be on a rotating on call roster to assist with concerns and rostering.
  • Participate in staff onboarding/orientation program as per schedule. 
  • Work alongside the community engagement and intake officer to complete intake of new participants into the service.
  • Complete ad hoc tasks at the requests of your direct manager, Operations Manager and CEO.

What You’ll Need:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience and qualities in the following areas and hold or have the ability to obtain the following:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Disability or a willingness to obtain, with a commencement within 12 months of appointment. 
  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to provide responsive and person-centred support.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately when under pressure.
  • Ability to be punctual and reliable. 
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use a Smart Phone, Tablet and software application relevant to work. 
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Positive attitude.
