The Opportunity
This truly is a unique opportunity to combine your technical management expertise in enabling both institutional and national cross-jurisdictional research projects that bring together national and global sensitive data assets and collaborations. As the Technical Lead (eResearch Infrastructure), you will lead a team of technical staff in deploying and continuously improving a range of infrastructure platforms dedicated to underpinning fundamental and translational research.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Using your in depth Linux knowledge to provide technical advice and support to the Linux support team in their day-to-day activities
Coaching and mentoring the technical team ensuring professional development and alignment to business outcomes
Liaise with internal stakeholder groups such as academics, researchers, eSolutions staff to provide direction to the technical team
Support the Director of MeRC as required, providing technical advice and solutions as needed
Working closely with researchers, academics and technical experts to bring groundbreaking concepts to life, through technology

To be successfully considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
Extensive Linux administration and tuning experience
Experience managing a technical team in providing technical guidance and advice as well as mentoring and coaching
Previous exposure to programs and applications including software-defined infrastructure (e.g., OpenStack, associated hypervisors KVM, QEMU, networking and high-performance virtualisation technologies such as SR-IOV), software-defined storage (e.g., Ceph), low latency interconnects (e.g., RDMA) and high-performance datacentre protocols
