Technical Officer

About the Opportunity

The Drugs and Driving Toxicology Laboratory is seeking candidates for Technical Officer roles. Our laboratory provides independent and objective forensic analysis to criminal and coronial justice systems, as well as quality scientific analysis that contribute to community health and safety.

Two permanent full time positions are available. An eligibilty list may be created for future temporary or permanent roles. 

The Drugs and Driving Toxicology Laboratory is located in Lidcombe. There are public transport options available as well as plenty of on-site parking.

1. Minimum Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification relevant to analytical or forensic science to which the role applies.
2. Demonstrated understanding and practical knowledge of relevant technical laboratory skills and instrumentation such as liquid handlers, GC-FID, GC-MS and LC-MSMS.
3. Sound computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office applications and ability to use information management systems.
4. Demonstrated ability to individually contribute in a team environment to deliver outcomes within specified timeframes.
5. Well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients as well as other staff.
6. Capability to display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to follow procedures when investigating general issues.
7. Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.

All staff employed by NSW FASS will be required to supply a reference buccal sample so that their DNA profile can be compared to other generated profiles to exclude the possibility of contamination.

This is a Category A position.
