About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a new opportunity for a Technical Publications Author to partner with the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) program within our Battlespace Integrated Solutions business. This key position will report to the ILS Supportability Engineering Team Lead, be situated at either Edinburgh, Adelaide or Melbourne CBD, and will be offered at either a permanent full time or part time basis.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight.
BAE Systems Australia is leading the $1.2 billion upgrade of the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN), ensuring Australia remains a world leader in maritime and air defence Over the Horizon Radar (OTHR) systems. The state-of-the-art defence system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force's air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations.
Key responsibilities include:
* Perform Technical Publications Authoring/technical writing activities and write technical work instructions
* Develop technical documentation and ensure products meet program, safety and regulatory requirements
* Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture
* Utilise Technical Publications Authoring tools effectively to undertake documentation development and verification
* Collaborate with project teams and provide Technical Publications Authoring advice to stakeholders
* Perform training development activities including providing training analysis reports and undertaking training needs analysis
* Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve Technical Publications Authoring practices
About YOU
* Technical Publications Authoring/Technical Writing experience or technical experience in a maintenance/engineering/production environment
* Strong Microsoft Office Suite and computer skills
* Experience in reading and interpreting engineering documents and drawings
* Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
* Self-motivation, be open to new challenges, good critical thinking and problem solving skills
