We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Technical Superintendent to join our team in Newcastle, NSW. Reporting to the Port Manager this position offers the successful candidate with the opportunity to provide engineering and technical support to our vessels based in the Port of Newcastle.

What You Will Do
Your key responsibilities in this position will include:
Provision of timely advice to the Port Manager on the condition of the fleet and any matter likely to affect the availability of any vessel in the fleet for duty
Assist with the maintenance and crew utilisation
Preparation of docking specification, budgets and reports as well as maintenance and repair budgets, and monitoring of expenditure against those budgets
Consult with operational managers to plan maintenance schedules and labour requirements
Inventory control of stores and spare parts and, where authorised, conduct negotiations with suppliers
Liaise with management to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
Tertiary qualifications or a certificate of competency in Marine Engineering or equivalent
Strong track record in a similar position with exposure to offshore support vessels and/or tugboats
Competency in MS Office Suite
An understanding of various mechanical equipment and systems including diesel engines, power generation, dynamic positioning, tug propulsion systems and hydraulics
The flexibility to travel between our ports as required, to meet operational demands
