Job description

Buffalo Innovation is a Wireless Engineering Services Company. After rapid growth, we require more Telecommunications Riggers and Site Engineers/Controllers to join our dynamic team! 

Telecommunications Rigger

Reporting to the team leader, you will be carrying out all rigging works on telecommunications installation sites. You will be working at heights, as part of the team.

Duties will include:

  • Installation and Maintenance: Work at heights to install mobile/broadcast antenna systems, RRU, feeders, and Microwave Links, including installation and testing of hybrid cables and antenna systems on monopoles and towers.
  • Steelwork and Structures: Install steelwork, monopoles, and towers on both Greenfield and Co-Lo sites.
  • Testing and Fault Diagnosis: Perform PIM testing, sweep testing, distance to fault measurement, and ensure bird-proofing and waterproofing of connectors.
  • Reading and Interpretation: Read and interpret construction/as-built drawings to complete works to high specifications.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Check, maintain, and operate equipment in compliance with safety, efficiency, and calibration procedures.
  • General Rigging Work: Conduct general rigging and other tasks as required, including site constructability inspections to identify gaps and scope changes.
  • Compliance and Standards: Follow all client and industry specifications, standards, and HSE guidelines.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete relevant documentation, including photographic documentation (HOP), and maintain logs of inventories, parts, equipment, and instruments.
  • Technical Support and Advice: Provide technical advice, monitor performance, and support the design, optimization, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications networks and equipment.
  • Network Planning and Development: Plan the development of customer access telecommunications network infrastructure and provide ongoing operational support to resolve network performance issues.
  • Liaising with vendors, suppliers, service providers and external resources and monitoring contractual obligations and performance delivery

You have: 

•           An unwavering commitment to safe work practices

•           A solid knowledge of the use and selection of the correct, specific equipment for rigging works (including but not limited to pullies, winches, blocks etc.), depending on the project requirements (load weights and sizes, facilities and work schedules)

•           An ability to read and interpret construction drawings

•           An ability to problem-solve

•           A current Driver’s License

•           Developed specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work in a timely and professional manner

•           Willingness to work and contribute to a team

•           Construction White card

•           Current Victorian police check

  • At least three years of relevant experience

Highly Desirable

•           Current Certificate in Rigging (Basic, Intermediate or Advanced)

•           Work Safely at Heights Certificate & Tower Rescue

•           License to Perform High-Risk Work

•           Competency-based qualification and experience with Elevated Work Platforms (EWP)

•           First Aid Certificate

Wireless Site Engineer/Controller 

Reporting directly to the Regional Manager you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a range of Telecommunications/Wireless projects. 

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Establish the Scope of Work (SOW) for each site and the Method of Procedure (MOP) to carry out the scope

• Providing upgrades, installation, commissioning, swap outs, maintenance and repair support of customer telecommunications equipment and systems

• Ensuring that QHSE Policy requirements are observed and followed and targeting zero incidents/injuries to people and equipment

• Monitoring HSE performance within the area of responsibility

• Continuously oversee work, analyze production methods and production performance against the schedule, monitor performance and re-assessing efficiency and quality, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary

• Identify and auditing the materials for the build according to the site’s SOW

• Planning and scheduling the work to meet required timelines and outputs through prioritizing activities against daily program and liaison with appropriate project staff

• Understanding daily work program and directing/allocating staff and contractors as appropriate

• Creating and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders

• Measuring and reporting on progress against project plans, and gain authorisation, track and report all variations to contract schedules and work volumes

• Preparation and maintenance of site-specific installation instructions, guidelines, and documentation (Site Folder or Hand Over Packs)

• Follow up on the project’s implementation schedule and progress

• Assist with any problem-solving for implementation issues on site

• Provide technical support for the Field Team

• Ensure Site Documentation (HOP) is uploaded within the agreed timeframe

• Checking and approving Site Documentation (HOP) produced by the Field Team

• Where needed, interface with customers relating to quality issues or delays in the acceptance process

• Carry out pre-construction walk-outs, planning, scoping and activities to identify site installation standards, site types, challenges in installation, hazards, etc.; ensure that site works can be constructed efficiently per the construction plans and delivery schedule

• Undertake Quality checks of works undertaken to ensure that all works comply with the appropriate standards

To be considered for this role you need:

  • Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering or similar
  • At least three years of relevant experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Worked on 4G & 5G construction roll-outs.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with Clients, subcontractors, and Suppliers.
  • Preparation of internal and external reports
  • Updating of roll-out tools and spreadsheets
  • Internal and external problems escalation
  • Organisation of design activities including site surveys and study of specifications and new equipment
  • Preparing Site Safety Plans and scope of works
  • Ordering materials and managing deliveries of equipment
  • Planning construction activities
  • Preparation of site construction package
  • Subcontractor coordination
  • Managing inductions on site
  • Managing quality control and non-conformity issues, and preparation of relevant documentation up to final client approval.
