TEST LOR3 (Primary Role)

Role Description The Software Tester will be accountable under the general direction of the Test Manager for the prioritisation, design, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and techniques and conforming to agreed process standards and industry specific regulations. The purpose of testing is to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified (including security requirements) , and that the risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and documented.

Testing includes the process of engineering, using and maintaining testware (test cases, test scripts, test reports, test plans, etc) to measure and improve the quality of the software being tested.   Other Features of the role

  • The role is based in Canberra with minimal to no travel expectations.
  • Desirable Experience: Minimum 3 year’s Application Testing Experience
  • Mandatory Certification: ISTQB Foundation Certification
  • Desirable Certification: Agile Certifications

Statement of Suitability Against Major Responsibilities

1.       Be proactive in gaining both business and technical context in order to create accurate test cases. BSMO LOR2, BUAN LOR3, REQM LOR2

2.       Understand when to use both dynamic and preventative testing techniques

3.       A basic understanding in programming techniques to align with the use of Selenium WebDriver PROG LOR2 

4.       An ability to manage competing priorities

5.       Ability to learn and develop organisational specific skills so that you can work independently across the Project Office portfolio.

6.       Possess personal drive and initiative to continuously  etc

7.       The ability to report, verbally and in writing, regarding defects to the Test Manager, Project Manager and Developers regarding the issue and steps to reproduce. PBMG LOR3

8.       Be able to take direction from superiors, stakeholders and immediate supervisors

9.       The ability to analyse IT systems and identify risk touchpoints and understand areas that may regress to establish an expected test result

10.   Knowledge of test methodologies and the fundamental testing process across both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies. USEV LOR2, UNAN LOR3

TEST LOR3 (Primary Role)

Reviews requirements and specifications, and defines test conditions. Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes. Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.

TEST LOR4 (Primary Role)

Role Description

The purpose of testing is to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified (including security requirements) , and that the risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and documented. Testing includes the process of engineering, using and maintaining testware (test cases, test scripts, test reports, test plans, etc) to measure and improve the quality of the software being tested.

The role will involve working with business stakeholders, project managers, system architects / analysts, software developers / systems administrators and business analyst personnel.

Other Features of the role

  • Desirable Experience: Minimum 4-5 year’s Application Testing Experience ·      

Mandatory Certification: ISTQB Foundation Certification ·       Desirable Certification: ISTQB Advance Level Automation Engineering or ISTQB Advanced Technical Analyst, Agile Certifications

2.       Utilise their testing expertise to execute both dynamic and preventative testing techniques

3.       Has the technical capability to create automation test cases and can demonstrate  selection process to assess what test cases are eligible to be automated. TECH LOR4, SINT LOR2

4.       An ability to manage individually allocated work packages and to balance competing priorities, as well as the ability to report progress regarding test coverage and defect tracking. PBMG LOR3

5.       Ability to learn and develop organisational specific skills so that you can work independently across the Project Office portfolio.

6.       Possess personal drive and initiative to continuously develop and maintain relevant skills in regards to software testing and their own ongoing professional development. METL LOR4

7.       Lead testing activities to implement the agreed business outcomes ensuring all required artefacts are complete to the required standard. BPTS LOR4

8.       Be able to take direction from superiors, stakeholders and immediate supervisors

9.       A basic understanding and level of experience in programming techniques to align with the use of Selenium WebDriver PROG LOR3,

10.    Experience with test methodologies and the fundamental testing process across both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies. UNAN LOR3, USEV LOR2

SFIA Professional Skill

Level Description

TEST LOR4 (Primary Role)

Accepts responsibility for creation of test cases using own in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability and portability). Creates traceability records, from test cases back to requirements. Produces test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.

Specifies requirements for environment, data, resources and tools. Interprets, executes and documents complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Records and analyses actions and results, and maintains a defect register.

Reviews test results and modifies tests if necessary. Provides reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project. Reports on system quality and collects metrics on test cases.

Provides specialist advice to support others.
