Tonsley Technical College: Shaping the Future of Technical Education in South Australia

Tonsley Technical College will be a visionary institution that aims to revolutionize technical education in South Australia. The State Government is investing in Technical Colleges that will set the standard for excellence in their design, learning environment and delivery of skills-based training for school-enrolled students. 

Partnered with Australian Science and Mathematics school, to open in 2025, Tonsley Technical College will cater for around 120 students in its first year, increasing to 240 from 2026 onwards. Tonsley Technical College will be located in the Tonsley Innovation Precinct and built in Tandem with Flinders University’s Factory of the Future, an industry focused research and capability-building facility.  

Tonsley Technical College will offer four industry training programs focussing on: industry areas that are in high demand such as Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering and will partner with high-profile employers, training providers and higher education partners.

What You Will Do:

• Educational Leadership: Drive the development and delivery of industry training programs, ensuring they align with industry demands and equip students with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to succeed in the workforce.
• Strategic Planning: Lead the establishment and expansion of Tonsley Technical College, catering to up to 120 students in the inaugural year, with plans to increase capacity to 240 students from 2026 onwards.
• Partnership Building: Collaborate with industry leaders, employer partners, and high schools to create pathways for students' seamless transition into apprenticeships, traineeships, entry-level employment, or further education.

What you will need:

• High level experience in delivery, implementation and evaluation of vocational education and or innovative programs in partnership with industry and employers
• Ability to lead staff in a complex multi-stakeholder environment including the ability to problem solve, communicate and enact solutions.
• Management experience for effective operations (strategy, finance, performance monitoring) relevant to the running of the Tonsley Technical College.
