Based in Burleigh Heads, we are a leading stainless-steel supplier, Laser Cutter and fabrication company that has been operating on the Gold Coast for over 20 years. Our business undertakes projects across Southeast Queensland and the Northern Rivers region primarily within the commercial sector.
This is a newly created role within our expanding Laser Processing department.
About our Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Toolmaker to join our team in Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast QLD. In this busy and varied role, you will be responsible for testing, repair, and maintenance of a range of machinery. This will involve manufacturing in-house/fit-for-function press tools, jigs, fixtures, one-off components, including laser cutting.
Main duties:
· Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, fixtures and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
· Examine faulty machinery and equipment for defects
· Remove and replace damaged parts
· Undertakes regular emergency repairs of metal parts of machinery & equipment
· Prepare fabrication shop drawings, marking plans, cut lists, assembly details and supporting documentation.
· Program Laser Machine
· Manage Material Procurement
· Manage Laser / Plate Costings
· Manage / Order Consumables
To be considered for this role you will need to:
· Be dedicated to safety and maintaining high-quality
· Be proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications
· Have knowledge of press tooling, processes, and technologies
· Have knowledge in the design of press and forming tooling
· Be able to read commercial architectural drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of articles to be manufactured.
· Be bale to measure and marke out metal stock and castings using various gauges
· Cut, shape and form metal and other materials using machine tools
· Check accuracy of manufactured articles to fine tolerances, using precision measuring instruments.
· Test and modifying manufactured articles.
· Diagnose and repair faults with tools and machinery and performing regular maintenance.
· Have minimum 2 years + experience in a similar role.
· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Have a very high attention to detail.
· Be able to work as a team and have a good work ethic.
· Hold a trade qualification or similar
