Tourism Bookings & Services Officer

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) manages the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), one of Australia's greatest assets. The MCG is host to more than 70 major events annually, attracting over three million patrons and visitors.

The Club Services & Heritage department at the MCC is responsible for providing the highest quality service to our 150,000 Melbourne Cricket Club members, over 240,000 waiting list candidates, as well as patrons, visitors and tourist of the MCG.

Located at the MCG, the Australian Sports Museum presents world-class exhibitions based on significant sporting and social history collections. The numerous galleries feature all major Australian sports and various Halls of Fame. The museum is a vibrant, exciting and attractive mix of information, cultural heritage and interactive entertainment. The MCG Tours provides the opportunity for everyone to explore the inner sanctum of the MCG, walk on the hallowed arena and follow in the footsteps of where legends have walked. 

An excellent opportunity has arisen in the Club Services and Heritage department, for a Tourism Bookings & Services Officerto join the Tourism team. Reporting to the Tourism Services Manager, the job goals / responsibilities are to:

  • Provide accurate, timely and excellent customer service to all visitors of the Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours.
  • Support the Tourism Bookings Services Coordinator by taking and arranging efficient operations of Tourism Bookings the Australian Sports Museum and MCG Tours.
  • Work in conjunction with Volunteer & Services Officer, and be the first point of contact for any queries from the Club Services Representatives regarding bookings for the Museum and MCG Tours.
  • Assist the Tourism Services Manager and the Bookings & Service Coordinator in collaborating with MCG events and Delaware North in facilitating high level corporate functions that include tourism product and drive visitation.
  • Reservation bookings administration and data entry
  • Provide support to Tourism Bookings & Services Coordinator in the delivery of financial administration tasks.
  • Assist the Training & Services Coordinator and the Tourism Bookings Services Coordinator in the training and mentoring of Front of House (FOH) staff
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure staffing and work schedules are in place to deliver servicing needs
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the required CRM systems, and ensure accuracy of information
  • Assist the Front of House Tourism Services team as required
  • Collaborate with the Club Services & Heritage team to achieve visitation and customer engagement goals.

To be successful for this position, you will have previous experience working in an administration/customer service role working in a similar industry (working in reservation booking is an advantage). Your excellent administration/data entry skills, being adaptable and flexible to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet and manage multiple customer needs, will set you apart from the rest. You are a team contributor and collaborator, that is genuinely passionate about creating a great visitor experience and have a natural ability in building relationships and able to engage with a diverse range of visitors servicing customers and the team, with a can-do, positive, warm and friendly approach. In addition you will have good level competency in the use of computer applications including CRM's and be technically savvy in picking up and working with new systems and are process driven.

You will also need to able to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrable ability to work on team based projects,
  • Able to sort and manage data and information, and produce reports.
  • Strong relationship building, contractor liaison and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passionate about sport, events and the tourism industry
  • Great problem solving skills

Preferable

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (i.e. Business, Tourism)
  • Experience working with volunteers
