The Role
Southern Ports is recruiting an Electrical Tradesperson to join their team in Esperance. The Electrical Tradesperson’s accountabilities will include the maintenance and repair of Port infrastructure, land and marine assets in regard to low and high voltage equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance plans as instructed by management, performing electrical isolations and keeping all electrical logbooks updated as required.
Key Duties
- Preventative and breakdown maintenance of ship-loaders and material handling low and high voltage systems.
- Electrical installations of new plant and equipment.
- Monitoring and assessment of plant and equipment including PLC systems.
- Diagnose electrical faults to plant and equipment and carry out the required repairs.
- Perform electrical isolations including design and implementation of switching programs.
- Hold a current West Australian A Class Electrical License.
- Hold a current Electrical Mechanic Trade Certificate.
- Extensive post trade facilities maintenance, mining or heavy industry experience.
- Desirably previous experience with fixed plant operations and maintenance of ship loaders and conveyors.
- Demonstrated commitment to Workplace Health and Safety and safety systems.
- Knowledge of the regulatory framework pertaining to electrical work in Western Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Current certificates in Confined Space, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform and Forklift will be highly regarded.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Esperance and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card, undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
