About the role We’re seeking a Traffic Control
Room Officer who will be at the centre of the action, manage the safety of our roads and tunnels, monitor the traffic flow, re-direct traffic, coordinate response teams, or relay critical information to keep our roads safe. Room Officer, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work. Day-to-day, you will: Gain access to the latest tech and control systems to manage and monitor traffic on both open roads and in tunnels
Get a good grasp of things such as Automated Height Detectors, Road Management systems, CCTV, Automatic Incident Detection Systems and over 300 cameras Work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Services and your team
Act swiftly to respond to incidents to contain the event and keep everyone safe
Incident Management and Traffic Management plans will become second nature to you – you will create these with ease to ensure our roads run more efficiently and safely when things don’t go to plan
Make recommendations and find new ways to improve our processes and traffic management
Collate real time info on road conditions for our stakeholders, the media and our customers, so there are no surprises when they use our roads
Understand the importance of rigorous knowledge of the CityLink traffic management policies, practices and procedures, including operational systems
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: Experience within a monitoring centre or operational environment
Valid Drivers’ License and an understanding of our roads
Tech-savvy and analytical, you’re fascinated with new technology and systems - you like to jump in the deep end
You’ll be driven, resilient and love a challenge, showing confidence and professionalism, no matter how staggering the situation is
You’ll be organised, efficient and decisive in prioritising the tasks that count
Experience in writing reports and knowing which important details to include so operations run smoothly
