About WIRES

WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation. WIRES has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for over 35 years, with a mission to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

WIRES operates a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing rescue advice and assistance for over 130,000 animals annually.

WIRES is providing significant national support for hundreds of projects across Australia, to assist with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. WIRES is working nationally with strategic partners to support the long-term recovery of wildlife habitat and the long-term preservation of native species in the wild.

  • Arrange regular communications to branches and members to promote local courses and encourage enrolments
  • Process and manage enrolments into courses
  • Update training records after courses
  • Provide prompt, professional follow up to species course enquiries
  • Attendance at courses to provide in person support to branches and trainers, as required
  • Attendance at meetings as required
  • Assisting with delivering local and regional RICC workshops as required
  • Working closely with the broader training team to ensure all priorities and deadlines are achieved
  • Project development and other projects as required

About You:

  • All necessary training for course coordination and scheduling will be provided; however, experience with event management, scheduling, coordination, etc., is highly desirable for this role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or 2+ years in the wildlife, environmental or conservation space
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
  • Familiarity with NPWS Wildlife Codes of Practice is advantageous
  • Passion for training/education and committed to supporting wildlife rescue volunteers with access to high quality training
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and balance multiple work streams across more than one course
  • Highly organised, reliable and efficient
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills for engaging with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong MS office skills and experience working with different systems and databases
  • Willingness to work cooperatively and collaboratively across the organisation
  • Recognition of the broader needs of WIRES while meeting specific objectives of the role
  • Awareness of the importance of data integrity and accuracy, maintaining confidentiality of information at all times
  • Openness to change and the flexibility to accommodate changing requirements to fulfil WIRES objectives
