About Trion

The Trion project is an oil opportunity in Mexico and is located in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 180km off the Mexican coastline and 30km south of the US/Mexico maritime boarder at a water depth of approximately 2,500 meters.  Trion will be one of Mexico’s first deep-water oil developments achieving project sanction in June 2023. 

Trion is Woodside Energy’s operated production asset within the Perdido basin in ultra Deepwater offshore Mexico with first oil targeted in 2028 with development drilling expected in start in 2026. Trion field’s development consists of 12 producers, 10 water injectors, and 2 gas injectors drilled between two campaigns. 

The selected concept for Trion is a subsea development connected to a semi-submersible FPU capable of producing and transferring 100,000 barrels of oil per day to a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel.  Oil from the FSO is expected to be exported to the market, with excess gas transferred back via a pipeline to existing offshore gas export infrastructure. 

About the Role:

A technician is needed within the Trion Subsurface team to work collaboratively within the team in Mexico City and Houston. This role would support the team with data management and information analysis throughout the well planning and execution process. It is preferred that the candidate has experience working within a subsurface team of an Exploration & Production company.

This is arole reporting to the Trion Head of Subsurface. It is a full-time position based in Mexico City, Mexico where part of the team will be located with additional subsurface team members within the Houston Texas, USA office. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing subsurface information/data across multiple software platforms to support team deliverables
  • Visualizing and interpreting data to identify patterns and draw insights
  • Assist team members with preparation of Basis of Well design documentation
  • Provide subsurface well data needed for drilling permit preparation
  • Assist with subsurface inputs to project reporting (quarterly and annual reports) and reserves updates

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum degree qualification in science, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 3+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Foundational understanding of Petroleum Geoscience and/or Petroleum Engineering - can describe key terminology, processes, and activities
  • Ability to access, retrieve, integrate and conduct quality checks on subsurface data
  • Can visualize and draw insights from subsurface domain data
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with retrieving data from Petrel
  • Experience with Power BI – Data visualization is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and engagement skills
  • A high level of attention to detail and ability to work with and manage large data sets
  • Spanish & English required
