ABOUT THE ROLE

The Umpiring Coordinator position is responsible for the day-to-day planning and execution of duties related to the effective delivery of all initiatives and activities around the recruitment, education and retention of senior umpires within Sydney. Importantly, this role will be a key member of a ‘HUB' team environment executing our Community Football Competitions.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the umpire coaching program for AFL Sydney Seniors
  • Provide leadership and engage with umpires & umpire coaches across AFL Sydney Seniors
  • Appoint umpire coaching staff and periodically review their performance
  • Ensure umpires are completing all match day responsibilities, including match day paperwork
  • Investigate match day related incidents, code of conduct and behavioural issues and follow up as required in conjunction with the relevant internal & external stakeholders
  • Receive umpire reviews and disseminate to the umpires & umpire coaches as required
  • Conduct mid-season and end of year umpire group reviews
  • Advocate umpiring programs ensuring quality match day environments to clubs
  • Provision of assistance with appointments of umpires where required
  • Conduct local initiatives in line with the AFL's National Umpiring Development Strategy
  • Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
  • Ensure attendance and presence to support the role, football community and events as required
  • Support and contribute to the success of the broader Community Football team

  • Computer literacy in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Well-developed, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills

Mandatory:

  • Full drivers' licence
  • Working with Children check or ability to obtain

Desirable:

  • Sports admiration experience
  • Good understanding of the AFL Laws of the game
