Buller Ski & Snowboard School (SSS) is seeking candidates to join our dynamic team of instructors from around the globe. A limited number of positions are available for candidates who do not currently posses an instructor certification but have advanced skiing or riding skills and great communication skills. If you want to share your passion for the alpine environment with others, we would love to hear from you.
Positions available include:
- Limited Availability (15 day commitment ) and;
- Unlimited Availability (6 days per week)
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching skiing or snowboarding to children and adults in group and private lesson settings
- Assisting guests in identifying the best lesson options for themselves and family members
- Assisting with overall guest service around the resort and especially in the Ski and Snowboard School meeting places
We're looking for people with:
- It is a requirement for candidates applying for this position to possess both ski & snowboarding skills.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills
- Advanced skiing or snowboarding skills
- Excellent time-management skills
- Available for work from approximately 26th June to 12th September, 2021
- A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to be a team player
- Previous teaching experience in other areas or group handling a plus but not required
- Ability to maintain a pleasant, professional manner under pressure and during extremely busy times
- Neat and well groomed appearance
- Ability to participate in 3 day training (provided by Mt Buller) and successful completion of APSI Level 1 Exam (cost to participant) prior to commencing work
- Your own ski/snowboard equipment including helmet
- All successful candidates will require a Victorian Working with Children's Check
The Process:
Successfully shortlisted applicants will be interviewed via video 'Teams'. Those candidates that are successful through the interview process, will then be given the opportunity to participate in a formal qualification with the Australian Professional Snowsports Association (APSI) Level 1 Certification which will also be held at Mt Buller. The APSI course is provided to successful candidates complimentary (usually $1000+). There will be a requirement for the candidate to make payment for the official examination, APSI membership and manual.
As part of the interview process and APSI course, candidates will be provided with complimentary lift tickets. All other costs for accommodation, transport & food for the interview date and APSI course/exam will be need to be arranged by the candidate.

To be considered for employment, candidates must complete the entire course and pass the exam. If you are unable to attend the Inhouse level 1 on the dates in mid June mentioned above, candidates may attend another course which will be conducted in the 1st week of the July School Holidays. Please note: the course and exam to be held in July will not be complimentary.
