Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Underground Supervisor, you will play a critical role in safe and productive charging and firing, underground loader operations and additional tasks such as mine services work, service checks and minor maintenance as required.
Key deliverables include, but not limited to:
- Safe storage and handling of explosives that meet the requirements of the regulations and site standards
- Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities. I.e. FCCCs, JSEA, Prestart inspections, hazcards and audits.
- Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported to Shift Supervisor.
- Undertake specific tasks as directed by the Underground Shift Supervisor.
To be considered applicants require the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in charging and sound knowledge of underground metalliferous mining
- Current NSW Explosives Licence (BEUL) & Unsupervised Handling Licence
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Proactive hazard and risk awareness
- Demonstrated ability to have the courage to speak up when critical controls are not adequate
You will possess a passion and drive to ensure high safety standards, be team oriented, as demonstrated by your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Previous underground mining experience in service crew and loader operations will be highly regarded.
Please note: You will be initially required to work a 7D/7X roster.
