Underwriting Product Specialist

A role fundamental to the growth & development of the product offering, the Underwriting Product Specialist will oversee the ongoing profitability and performance of the product through the partnership with the insurance broker network.You will be sitting across 3 product departments - BPK, Motor and Home & Landlord.Who Will You Be Working With?This underwriting agency is known for their agility and tailored insurance offering that streamlines the process for the benefit of their broker partners. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Risk Management - Assess and manage risks associated with insurance policies, developing underwriting guidelines to ensure profitability.
• Decision-Making - Make underwriting decisions on complex cases, providing guidance to underwriters in challenging situations.
• Policy Development - Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.
• Profitability - Work towards achieving and maintaining profitability targets, monitoring and optimizing underwriting performance.
• Relationships - Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers, clients, and external stakeholders.
• Training and Development - Provide training opportunities for external brokers and stakeholders underwriting staff, keeping the team informed about industry trends.
• Compliance - Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.

We Are Looking for Someone With:

• 5+ years of substantial experience as an underwriter
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and completed ANZIIF studies
• A profound understanding of the specific industry or industries the underwriting agency serves, including knowledge of regulatory frameworks, market trends, and emerging risks.
• Strong analytical skills, familiarity with underwriting software, and proficiency in navigating technology for efficient underwriting processes.
• Effective negotiation skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with brokers.
• An in-depth understanding of risk management principles, strong leadership skills, and the capability to make well-informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
• A keen awareness of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and legal changes affecting underwriting practices.
