- 5+ years of substantial experience as an underwriter
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and completed ANZIIF studies
- A profound understanding of the specific industry or industries the underwriting agency serves, including knowledge of regulatory frameworks, market trends, and emerging risks.
- Strong analytical skills, familiarity with underwriting software, and proficiency in navigating technology for efficient underwriting processes.
- Effective negotiation skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with brokers.
- An in-depth understanding of risk management principles, strong leadership skills, and the capability to make well-informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
- A keen awareness of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and legal changes affecting underwriting practices.
