The Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) within the DTI is responsible and accountable for providing the regulatory policy and procedure framework for the State’s Land Valuation System and ensuring that the functions undertaken by the Service Provider, Land Services SA (LSSA), in performing statutory valuations across the State are compliant and effectively administered in accordance with the Valuation of Land Act 1971, and by supporting government decision making through the provision of professional valuation advice and strategic services.

The Statutory team seeks to ensure accurate and transparent valuations and principled decision making that supports fairness in property-based taxation.  The team provides high level customer service and delivery of the administration of the valuation grievance process and supports the Valuer-General in providing effective regulatory oversight of LSSA.

The Role:

Working closely with the Managing Statutory Valuer and Statutory team, this is an exciting contract opportunity to develop your valuation career pathway.  This role provides a range of administrative, technical and valuation support to a team of professional valuers and senior administration staff through research, document preparation, coordination and reporting.  Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, assisting the team in monitoring of incoming enquiries, meeting and event coordination, records management and stakeholder engagement.

About You:

OVG is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and a passion for the property industry.  This role would ideally suit an individual that is currently pursuing, or recently completed, a tertiary qualification in a property related field.

To be successful in this position, you should be able to demonstrate experience across the following key responsibilities:

  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with issues of a sensitive and/or political nature

Desirable Qualification:

  • Currently pursuing a tertiary qualification in a property related field (i.e. Bachelor of Business (Property) or Economics or similar).

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.
  • Some intra/interstate travel may be required.
  • This is a 12-month term contract. 

Remuneration:

ASO2 – $57,842 min – $62,221 max
