Valve / Actuator Technician – Instrumentation Lead 

Scope of Role: PROEGER seeks an appropriately skilled individual with experience to carrying out the assembly and testing of new valves along with mounting and calibration of actuation and associated instrumentation and controls. 

Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities - But not limited to: 

Primary Tasks 

• Isolation and control valve assembly and overhaul to the appropriate standard and industry specification set in place with relevant documentation.  Piston, Diverter, Ball, Gate, Globe, Check, Knife Gate & Pinch Valves etc.

• Testing of valves to appropriate API/ASME/MSS standards and to the client specific test requirements when required.  API-6D / API-6A / MSS SP81 / API-598 / PLS1 / PSL2 / PR2

• High pressure testing and pre-commission function testing of valves, actuators and controls.

• Undertaking valve overhaul, repairs and testing within our workshop and at remote sites (when required)

• Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve overhaul and recertification experience

• Ensuring the appropriate hold points/inspection points are adhered to, ensuring 3rd party signatories/verification are carried out when involved. 

• Understand customer requirements in line with their delivery requirements which may involve overtime hours to achieve the required delivery. 

• Focal point for additional level of setting of instrumentation which require a more in- depth level of knowledge and understanding. 

• Provide direct support and assistance to other team members or contract labour.

• When required work with the instrumentation technicians to help resolve instrumentation issues. 

• Help assist where possible with 3rd party inspections / live streaming / video inspections. 

• Maintain a good level of housekeeping within your working environment. 

• Positively promote the company’s products / services / reputation though actions of conduct with customers and vendors. 

• Mentor and help train less experienced team members in assembly and testing procedures.   

Objectives: 

• Fully understand our customers’ requirements through relevant documentation and communication from the workshop production Co-Ordinator / Manager.   

• Show a level of competence leadership and direction in obtaining and achieving the company and customer’s requirements to an acceptable standard of work. 

• Be of an acceptable level of competence which allows you to carry out your work with minimal supervision.

Training will be provided, however, previous experience in the following would be beneficial:

•             Control valve and valve positioner calibration

•             Tube bending

•             Calibration of position indicators and limit switches

•             Setup of electric actuators

•             Pneumatic and hydraulic circuits and fault finding

•             PLC understanding 

Qualifications

Applicants should have a formal trade background as a Valve Technician or a Diploma / Degree in Mechanical (Manufacturing) Engineering Technology / Instrumentation.
