An outstanding opportunity awaits a dedicated Maths/Science/VCE Biology teacher to join a community-focused school in Newport/Altona in from Term 3, in a full time, fixed term contract with ongoing opportunities. This school, serving around 1000 students from years F-12 across three campuses, provides a great opportunity to be part of a wonderful school community. The school supports both graduates and experienced teachers, offers learning coaching, and great resources.
Key duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Maths and Science curriculum aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, covering various topics such as algebra, geometry, calculus, biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
- Design lesson plans that cover all aspects of the VCE Biology study design, for Units 1 & 2.
- Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating hands-on experiments, problem-solving activities, and inquiry-based investigations to enhance students' understanding and mastery of mathematical and scientific concepts.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, laboratory experiments, group work, and multimedia resources, to engage students and enhance their understanding.
- Design and administer assessments, tests, and experiments to evaluate students' understanding and provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their academic performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Maths and Science departments and across other subject areas to create interdisciplinary projects, thematic units, and cross-curricular connections.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in Maths and Science education.
- Manage and organize biology resources, including laboratory equipment, specimens, and materials and ensure the biology laboratory is maintained and utilized effectively.
Skills & Experience:
- Current VIT registration
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Maths/Science/VCE Biology
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
Offering:
- Teaching Maths/Science to students in years 7-10 and VCE Biology to year 11 students
- Term 3 start
- Salary based on experience ($75k-$115k)
