Netball WA (NWA) is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout Western Australia, and its organisation includes Glass Jar Australia.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Venue Coordinator plays a key part in the daily operations and activities of the Gold Netball Centre (GNC) and the upkeep of the facility.

Operationally the role monitors the maintenance, cleaning and waste requirements of the facility to ensure it is maintained to a high standard. The role is responsible for coordination of equipment and set up for use on a daily basis and assists with the logistics and delivery of events in the center.

It is essential that you can work varied hours including weekdays, evenings and weekends, however this also provides flexibility to balance other areas of your life. While the role is well suited to someone with experience in facilities or events, it is also suitable for someone with the right transferable skills or personal attributes looking for a change of pace, returning to the workforce or just entering the work force.

Responsibilities and Duties

VENUE OPERATIONS

• Undertake regular venue and equipment inspections, complete internal maintenance, cleaning, and waste management as required and identify and report on contractor required maintenance or upgrades needed to maintain the building to a high standard

• Assist the Venue, Events and Competition Manager with external reporting on contractor required maintenance and upgrades and coordination of contractors on site, including regular cleaning contractors

• Ensure compliance with all occupational health & safety (OH&S), risk management and venue maintenance procedures in accordance with the co-management agreement with Venues West

• Prepare the venue before and after use including setup and pack down of equipment, cleaning courts and floors as required, and the planning and inspection of post event cleans

• Plan and coordinate facility logistics for, and assist with the running of, sport specific and non-sport specific events as required

• Answer customer inquiries, take bookings and payments, and undertake reception and other customer service duties as required, ensuring that a high level of service is provided to potential customers and users of the center at all times

• Supervise or participate in kiosk and service of alcohol duties as required and dependent on certification

STAFFING AND PEOPLE

• Assist with the coordination of casual staff, volunteers and contractors of the facility, including rostering of casual staff, and induction and training as required

• Ensure strict adherence to OH&S requirements for any of those parties under your supervision

OTHER DUTIES

• Comply with all Netball WA and Venue specific risk management policies and procedures

• Assist in the review of all procedures and, where relevant, policies to address the need for continual improvement

• Assist in the completion of the monthly checklist of all Netball WA owned fleet cars

• Undertake building maintenance and general cleaning requirements for the Netball WA office space as require

• Any other duties within the employees’ capabilities and which is reasonable to expect the employee to undertake as directed by the Venue Manager or Chief Financial and People Officer

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Demonstrated desire and ability to take initiative and work proactively

• Demonstrated professional and practical approach to working with customers and other stakeholders

• Ability to work rostered hours across weekdays, weekends and evenings

• Demonstrated competency in common computer applications such as word, excel and outlook, and ability to learn and adapt to new applications

• Practical understanding of OH&S practices such as lifting/moving equipment safely

• Approved Manager and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate or willingness to obtain one

• First aid certificate (including defibrillator use) or willingness to obtain one

• Current WA Working with children check (WWCC)

• WA “C” class driving license

• At all times ensure a Child Safe environment

• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children

• Comply with the Netball Australia Member Protection Policy and Child Safeguarding Policy

• Comply with the WA Working with Children Check (WWCC) Legislation which means:

o If your usual duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child under 18 you will be required to obtain a WWCC;

o If you fall into a WWCC exemption category a National Police Clearance Certificate is required

Desired

• Experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry would be highly regarded

• Experience in using booking or event software, facilities management software, rostering systems, billing systems or similar products

Hours of Work

This role is a permanent full time position working 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are rostered across weekdays, evenings and weekends depending on activities within the centre.

Salary

A salary range of $55,000 - $60,000 per annum plus superannuation will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on level of experience.

Child Safeguarding

NWA as a child safe organisation require all applicants that will work with children to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment.
