About the Role
The Trades and Engineering Technology Department is seeking to suitably qualified and experienced candidates for casual teaching activities to meet the departments growth in 2024 and beyond.
Swinburne’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) Teachers are required to inspire, engage and educate our students for the 21st century. They implement industry best practice and apply current learning technologies and contemporary learning pedagogies. They also customise and adapt our programs to meet our learners and clients’ needs that vary from certificate level through to diploma and associate degree levels.
In this role you will work collaboratively within a team of education professionals and will plan, deliver, assess, evaluate and ensure compliance of high-quality education and training programs. The units that you will deliver are from our current Construction Training Package CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry and our VET in Secondary Schools program. The requirement is to predominantly carry out teaching and assessment duties within these programs.
The hourly rate offered will depend on the successful applicant’s skills and current qualification level (between $86.82 - $90.24 p/h).
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality innovative teaching and learning programs in a variety of learning modes, reflecting an understanding of successful approaches to carpentry teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to participate effectively in continuous improvement, and develop high quality teaching and assessment materials
  • Builds constructive relationships with colleagues and generates ideas for improvements which includes demonstrating high level communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentoring and student experience.
  • Possess sound computer skills to email, access databases, MS Office, and our Learning Management Systems
  • Current practical experience (currency) within the carpentry industry
Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116
  • Certificate III in Carpentry
