Opes is undertaking sustainment services for a Tier 1 military integrator, located in South Australia. The highly cleared (AGSVA NV2) team manages a bespoke on-premises private cloud system supporting software development activities.
Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMWare Engineer / Administrator to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining our virtualized environment with a focus on VMWare technologies. The role requires a deep understanding of VMWare solutions and the ability to optimise these to meet business requirements.
Role Responsibilities
- Maintain a VMWare Cloud Foundation Software-Defined Datacentre.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise performance, scalability, and availability of virtualized resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and develop appropriate designs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to VMWare technologies, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and system upgrades.
- Monitor and manage VMWare solutions, ensuring system stability, security, and reliability.
- Ensure adherence to industry best practices and standards in design and implementation.
- Create and maintain documentation related to the SDDC, including design specifications, installation/configuration guides, and standard operating procedures.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with VMWare technologies, including VCF, vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and Horizon View.
- Strong understanding of virtualisation concepts, architecture, and components.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing highly available and scalable VMWare virtualised environments.
- Hands-on experience in virtual machine provisioning, configuration, and management.
- Solid understanding of networking and storage technologies as they relate to VMWare technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to VMWare technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex problems and provide effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- VMWare certifications such as VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV, or VCDX-DCV preferred.
- Demonstratable experience in designing, implementing, and supporting VMWare virtualisation environments.
- Experience working with VMWare Tanzu and Aria components.
- Experience with VMWare NSX highly desirable.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is a plus, as are general infrastructure administration skills.
