As a Vocational Trainer, you will deliver hands-on instruction to students as part of a vocational education certificate and support students in developing broader employability skills, which will assist their transition to further training or employment.

About West Moreton Education and Training Centre:
The West Moreton Education and Training Centre (WMETC) is a co-educational school that delivers educational programs for remanded and sentenced young people at the West Moreton Youth Detention Centre. WMETC students have diverse learning needs, and a significant majority have had disrupted or negative schooling experiences. We seek to address this by supporting students to close individual learning gaps and attain vocational skills leading to qualifications.
About the Role:
Reporting to the RTO manager, you will have a student-centred approach to delivering quality learning, teaching and assessment. You will support students using a personalised learning approach, maintain records of student progress and contribute to the school's continuous improvement and strategic direction.
The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated skills and experience in delivering qualifications to students with diverse learning needs and from a range of settings, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, speakers of English as an additional language or dialect, young people with learning difficulties and early school leavers. Specifically, we are seeking applicants with vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed (or equivalent); across a range of industry areas including within the Certificate II in Creative Industries (or similar field).
Mandatory requirement of this role:
- Qualification or trade certificate in a relevant area
- Demonstrated relevant Industry experience and currency
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent (The successful candidate may be supported to complete or upgrade to this qualification if required.)
Desirable criteria:
- An understanding of the Australian Government Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework
- Experience with competency-based training in foundation skills and pre-employment training
