Job description

Are you a purpose-led professional looking for a way to contribute to the Brisbane community?

Got a background in finance, accounting or business and some experience with capacity building and growing a small organisation or business?

Ready to join our mission to inspire independence for young people with disability?

There is so much joy and excitement in growing up. Remember the friends, fun and freedom from home?

BestLife Foundation is about supporting young people with disability to find their joy.

Our highly-skilled and engaged team delivers the highest quality away-from-home experiences which help young people with disability learn life skills and cultivate lifelong friendships.

We’re looking for two volunteer Board members to join us.

About this opportunity

Founded in 2011, we provide Brisbane’s only planned, supported pathway to a more independent life for young people with a disability.

We’ve grown organically, adding new services and programs over the years, working hard to manage demand while not compromising on the quality of our programs.

This year we’ll continue to expand our Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short Term Accommodation (STA) across our four south Brisbane locations.

We’re also embarking on possibly the most exciting part of our journey so far: Building Helena’s House.

Thanks to an incredible injection of funding in the 2023-24 Queensland Budget, we’re building our very own, fully-accessible five bedroom, two bathroom home.

Are you ready to be part of the exciting next chapter in the BestLife Foundation story?

We’re looking for a Treasurer and Secretary to join our long-standing board of directors, starting in March 2024.

About you

To support our next chapter, we’re looking for Board Directors with some experience with a small business/organisation’s growth journey including capacity building, strategic direction and governance.

We’re looking for people who have the capacity to be hands-on Board members, attend quarterly meetings (Spring Hill) and respond to regular email communications in between meetings.

You’ll be flexible, agile and share our commitment to creating safe, inclusive and fun spaces and experiences for young people.

We’re looking for one person with an accounting/finance background and another from any business discipline.

Ideally you have an interest in the disability sector. An appreciation of the complexities of the NDIS would be beneficial.

Our Treasurer will need to have experience with the NDIS pricing model and financial modelling for NDIS funded services. This is a hands-on role, working closely with the CEO and has a time commitment of approximately 3-4 hours a month.

Our Secretary will coordinate quarterly Board meetings including agenda and document management, taking and distributing minutes and looking after post-meeting follow up actions. This role has a lesser time commitment and most responsibilities are on a quarterly cycle.
