Walker Permanent Part Time

About the role

As a Walking Postal Delivery Officer (PDO), you’ll start your work early mornings at 5:30am sorting small and large mail and parcels ready for delivery. You will then deliver all mail and parcels allocated to your round and exemplify excellent customer service towards the community.

To do that, you’ll need:

• To have excellent hand/eye co-ordination to sort the mail
• To be fit enough to lift up to 16kgs of mail regularly
• To be fit enough to walk between 10-20km per day depending on the route
• To have worked in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• To be flexible and work additional hours when required
• To be willing to delivery by walking in all types of weather

To be successful, you will need to have these essential requirements

• A friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality who enjoys interacting with others
• Someone who enjoys early morning starts, and can be counted on to deliver mail to where it needs to go
• A commitment to Australia Post’s Occupational Health and Safety standards
• Must be able to lift up to 16kg of mail on a repetitive basis
• Must be able to walk up to 10-20km per day
• Be able to stand for the duration of your shift
• Driver’s License is essential as you may be required to drive to an outstation
• Have ability to work safely in a fast paced environment
• Handle parcels that may contain meat and/or alcohol products
• Be available for full time hours
