Form of workWar Memorial Hospital (WMH) is a 3rd Schedule Aged Rehabilitation hospital, situated in Waverley, owned and operated by Uniting and part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). Services are comprised of 24-hour inpatient care, Monday to Friday outpatient departments, several specialist community teams inclusive of Transitional Aged Care, Aged Care Assessment Team, Geriatric Flying Squad, Young Onset Dementia, 6 day a week day centre program, 24-hour accommodation service for regional guests and the full range of hospital support services. The Maintenance Manager at War Memorial Hospital works as part of a closely integrated hospital management and campus team. The position oversees the maintenance programme and facilities management for the varied buildings and services across the site. War Memorial Hospital is a unique presentation of heritage and modern buildings in a prime Eastern Suburbs garden location.
The role entails management of a small internal operational team in the delivery of day to day maintenance and grounds keeping services. The manager requires the skills to complete minor maintenance jobs, with the role primarily responsible for the engagement, facilitation and supervision of external contractors to complete preventative and reactive maintenance works.
Knowledge of industry standards and Work Health & Safety Principles is essential in ensuring a safe, efficient and quality service delivery.
The position represents the maintenance department on various hospital committees and programs including Work Health & Safety and Quality initiatives. The Maintenance Manager liaises directly with War Memorial Hospital Executive Management in ensuring that the hospital facilities and grounds are maintained to a safe, cost effective and proud standard. The Maintenance role is seen as a critical support function in the delivery of high quality healthcare for our aged rehabilitation clients and their families
This position is a full time permanent role.
Selection Criteria:
1. Relevant trade qualification or demonstrated relevant industry experience
2. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of facility and services management
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small internal operational team
4. Demonstrated experience in contractor engagement, compliance and management
5. Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and electronic
6. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and WHS requirements
7. Understanding of cost centre management, basic budgeting principles and office administration skills
8. Demonstrated IT competency in systems including Microsoft Office programs along with proven email and record keeping skills
