What’s the role?
We are the largest dedicated water and wastewater laboratory in the southern hemisphere with Tier 1 quality in our laboratory and field performance. This allows us to provide the highest level of assurance to the community of Sydney Water’s quality product.
We undertake sampling and analysis across all products, such as; source water, drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, environmental waters (ie river, beaches, ocean sediments), stormwater, biosolids, sludges, grit & screenings.
Reporting to the Trace Analysis Laboratory Manager, your daily duties include receiving and processing of samples, analysis of results, data entry, quality control, checks and calibrations.
You will perform routine and non-routine analyses of samples from a variety of environments, using a range of equipment in accordance with procedures to meet customer quality and time expectations and regulatory and operational requirements.

Who are we looking for?
· Willing to work outside core hours on a rotational basis, flexible start/finish times between 7am to 7pm to meet contractual obligations
· Certificate, degree or similar qualification in chemistry or equivalent
· 1 year+ experience in laboratory and environmental chemistry, preferably in water industry
· Operate scientific instrumentation such as GC and GCMS and undertake various water and soil organic laboratory preparatory functions.
· Intermediate computer skills working with Microsoft office, Labware and other relevant software packages
· Proven attention to detail and accuracy in following procedures, documentation and data entry
· Demonstrated experience working within a team, the ability to prioritise high volumes of work and willingness to learn new tasks
· Knowledge of quality assurance requirements for analysis of water and waste water products, including NATA ISO 17025 accreditation and ISO 9000 quality system requirements.
· Work safely, undertake risk assessments and report hazards and incidents
