What you’ll do:
  • Support the development and delivery of strategic priorities for the WaterNSW Science Program, in consideration of current research and industry directions, to align the program with WaterNSW’s corporate strategy and program regulatory requirements.
  • Translate research benefits and outcomes into applicable management actions for WaterNSW.
  • Provide expert and specialist advice in relation to catchment heath and natural asset, water quality and integrated water resource management for WaterNSW clients, customers and regulators.
  • Manage science project and programs to ensure that allocated projects conducted by WaterNSW deliver the agreed scientific research and operational outcomes on time, within budget and fulfil the terms of project outcomes negotiated with clients.
What we are looking for:
  • Tertiary qualifications in science or related field relevant to the position, preferably at postgraduate level.
  • In depth, specialised knowledge in one or more of the nominated fields:-
  • Water quality (physico-chemical)
  • Water quality (microbial)
  • Limnology
  • Statistics
  • Catchment and riverine hydrology or hydrogeology
  • Aquatic ecosystems
  • Natural resource management
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and programs on time and within budget
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability and willingness to communicate at all levels.
  • Experience in the delivery of scientific research and strategic advice to inform business strategic priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in water resource and/or catchment management, with an emphasis on water quantity/quality.
